Senior Portraits: Class of 2012! | Maryland Senior Portrait Photographer

Here are the answers to all your questions about Jen Seay senior portraits! If I don’t answer your question, please call me and I can help you out! Info on contacting me is at the bottom of this post.

To see some of Jen’s favorite senior portraits from the past, visit www.jenseay.com and click on “The Site,” then on Seay Seniors.

What are your senior portrait sitting fees, and what do they include?

The Yearbook Session: $30   This is just what it sounds like – a session for you to get pictures for the yearbook. It includes several photos in the casual outfit of your choice and several formal photos (either drape for girls or tux for guys). Though it’s for the purpose of submitting yearbook pictures, you’re still welcome to purchase prints from this session.

The Indoor-Outdoor Session: $80:   This includes an outdoor casual portrait session at the Salisbury location of your choice, with up to three outfit changes. We’ll start at my studio for your formal, then we’ll spend about an hour taking pictures at SU, Pemberton Park, the Salisbury Park, the Downtown Plaza, or another location.

The Beach Session: $160:   We’ll most likely start at my studio with your formal portrait, then head to the beach (Ocean City or Assateague) for a casual portrait session. You can bring along three casual outfits, and we’ll take pictures for about an hour at the beach. If you prefer Cove Road beach (about 25 minutes down Nanticoke Road), the session fee is just $120. Please note: Beach sessions are limited to Monday and Thursday afternoons, so book soon!

Do you have any specials?

Yes! I have two specials that are good at any time! If you bring a friend along to do their session at the same time, each of you can take up to $10 off your session fee (Indoor-Outdoor session and Beach session only).

The second one can save you a lot of money on your prints. On the day of your session, you will be given the option of scheduling a viewing session within thirty days. If you schedule a viewing session and order your prints the evening of that appointment (viewing sessions will take place after 7 p.m. and won’t last more than 30 minutes), you can save 20% on your print package! Of course, if you schedule it and don’t show, or choose to order online instead, the discount won’t apply.

What time of the day is best for my portraits?

Jen loves the last hour or two before sunset, but can make any time of the day work, for making you look your best. She is a teacher in her “real life,” so her regular day ends at about 3:30, and that’s when she usually starts senior sessions. Of course, times are flexible.

What should I wear?

What clothes best express your personality? What do you like to wear? Be careful – outfits with loud prints or wide horizontal stripes aren’t the most flattering, and send the attention away from your face. Clothing that is too trendy might make you regret your choices ten years down the road. But whatever you choose, make sure you’re comfortable! The most flattering clothing fits properly and covers you in the right places. If you have questions, call Jen. And if you want to bring along more than three outfits, so you can get Jen’s opinion on the best three for you, bring ‘em!

Can I bring along props?

If you play football or the violin, or are a cheerleader, I welcome you to bring clothes and props that represent your love! I get really excited when someone brings along something that will make their portrait session different from everyone else’s. If there’s anything that Jen Seay is not, it’s a cookie-cutter photographer. I guarantee that your session will not look exactly like everyone else’s.

Do you have the tux or drape for the formals?

Yes! I have a variety of sizes of both, so you don’t need to provide your own.

Will you send my pictures to my school yearbook?

If you’re a Wicomico County or Delmar HS student, I’ll send your pictures to the yearbook for you. Some school yearbooks allow a formal only, and some allow both a formal and a casual. I’ll make sure the pictures get to yearbook before the deadline! (Don’t let them tell you this CAN’T be done – it totally can!)

Can I use my pictures on my Facebook profile?

Your pictures are protected by Federal Copyright Law. This means that even though the pictures are of you, you don’t own them – Jen does. If she’s your friend in Facebook, she’ll let you pick a few of your favorites and tag you in them, but you aren’t allowed to take the pictures from your session and put them all on your facebook profile. The pictures that she’ll tag you in will be watermarked, and it’s important that the watermarked is maintained and not cropped out (Jen likes to get credit for her work!). If you’re not Facebook friends with Jen, find her now and add her so you can have an awesome profile pic, too!

How can I see some of the work you do?

It’s important that the senior portrait photographer that you choose understands your style, and what message you want to send through your senior portraits. You can learn Jen’s style best by looking at some of her work. In a few weeks, the Class of 2010 pictures are going to come down, to be replaced by 2011 senior portraits. You can see all of Jen’s work from last year by clicking here. Also, check out her Facebook page dedicated to senior portraits here.

How do I purchase prints, and how much do they cost?

All prints are sold a la carte, not in packages (don’t you hate when you have to purchase a print package that doesn’t really include what you wanted, and a bunch of prints sit in the envelope forever?). Wallets cost about $1 each and are sold in sets of eight (with nice rounded corners). 5×7 prints and smaller are sold for $10 each, and 8×10 prints cost $25 each. Of course, you can pay a discounted price by scheduling a viewing session with Jen within thirty days of your portrait session (see question #2 above!).

I’m ready to book my session. How and when should I do it?

Email is the best way to contact Jen. She can be reached at jen@jenseay.com. She’ll email you a detailed price list, and directions to her studio, along with some dates that are available. Sessions are limited this year, since Jen is enjoying the newlywed life, so book soon!

A Particularly Cool (Cold) Senior Portrait | Eastern Shore of Maryland Senior Portrait Photographer

Titus is from Slovakia, and loves to surf. So he wanted senior portraits that would include his surfboard. A few weeks ago, I suggested that we go to Cove Road Beach (in Bivalve), not knowing that when we got there, there would be snow on the ground, and the bay would be frozen solid! It was a pretty cold day (about 30 degrees), but Titus braved the cold (in bare feet, even!) and I think the result was pretty cool…

(yes, that’s snow under his feet in the first shot!)

Ice surfing, anyone?

Catching some rays on the beach.

A New Favorite Newborn Pose | Eastern Shore of Maryland Newborn Photographer

This is little Matthew. He’s three weeks old, but wasn’t due until this weekend, and he was sound asleep during our portrait session on Friday afternoon…so asleep, in fact, that he was like clay in my hands during his session. My favorite shot is first, and then a few others I loved….

Gorgeous Baby Cadance | Salisbury Maryland Newborn Photographer

With all the high school seniors in my life lately, I’ve hardly been able to photograph any newborns! But Cadance came into my studio the other day, and was such an amazing little subject, that I had to write about her and show off a few of my favorite images here.

Autumn | Eastern Shore of Maryland Senior Portrait Photographer

Now that I’m caught up on my blog posting, it’s time to get back into the habit of blogging nightly (well, at least, every few nights!). So, here goes…

Autumn is a senior at James M Bennett senior high school, and had her pictures taken today at Barren Creek Farm in Mardela Springs. Though she says her horse wasn’t very well behaved, I thought he was a fine model, and we had lots of fun. Plus, we timed the portrait very well – as soon as I took the last few pictures, the rain began! Here are a few of my favorites…

A Few Favorite Senior Portraits | Eastern Shore of Maryland Senior Portrait Photographer

It’s been a busy fall for senior portraits! I’ve ‘shot’ a few dozen seniors already, and am on a mission for every portrait to be unique. I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos so far. So, here goes…

Baby Austin | Salisbury Maryland Newborn Photographer

This cute little boy was merely a week old when he visited me last weekend, and barely weighed six pounds. He slept most of our time together and was so, so tiny and scrunched up into a little ball – here are a few of my favorite shots from our session!

(these tiny little wrinkles are my favorite part of every newborn)

Four Evenings at the Beach | Ocean City, Assateague Portrait Photographer

Between Friday, August 14 and Monday, August 17, I spent four straight evenings at the beach, doing portraits for various families and high school seniors. I don’t generally like the beach during the day, and it’s not my ideal vacation spot, but I could spend every evening there during the last hour before sunset! I’ve found a new favorite spot, too – at Assateague Island National Park, the sand is whiter and finer than anywhere else I’ve been, and for $30 I purchased an annual pass that will get me there any time I want! Here are a few of my favorite photos from my beach sessions in the past week.

The Smith Family (I shot Jeff & Stacy’s wedding in August 2006, and can’t believe it’s been over three years now!)

The Thornes Family (I did Ryan’s senior portrait two years ago, and his mom wanted a portrait of the whole family)

Kelly & John were on vacation from Pittsburgh, and found me by searching the internet!

I spent Sunday and Monday evenings at Assateague National Seashore with Kelsea and Jennifer. Here are a few of my favorite shots from their sessions.

The Sen10rs So Far! | Eastern Shore of Maryland Senior Portrait Photographer

Okay, so I’ve been slacking a little bit (well, okay, a lot). I’ve done a few senior portraits and have neglected to blog about any of them, so I’m going to show you a few of my favorites so far right here! I try to make everyone feel beautiful during their senior portrait, and I think it shows in the results below. If you want YOUR senior portraits done by Jen Seay, please call 410.726.7536.

What are your senior portrait sitting fees, and what do they include?

The Yearbook Session: $25   This is just what it sounds like – a session for you to get pictures for the yearbook. It includes several photos in the casual outfit of your choice and several formal photos (either drape for girls or tux for guys). Though it’s for the purpose of submitting yearbook pictures, you’re still welcome to purchase prints from this session.

The Indoor-Outdoor Session: $60   This includes an outdoor casual portrait session at the Salisbury location of your choice, with up to three outfit changes. We’ll spend about an hour taking pictures at SU, Pemberton Park, the Salisbury Park, or another location, and then will head back to my studio for your studio formal.

The Beach Session: $100   We’ll probably start at my studio with your formal portrait, then head to the beach (Ocean City or Assateague) for a casual portrait session. You can bring along three casual outfits, and we’ll take pictures for about an hour at the beach.

Do you have any specials?

Yes! I have two specials on senior portrait session fees. If you book your session before school starts on August 31, take $10 off the Indoor-Outdoor and Beach sessions and $5 off the Yearbook Session. Plus, if you bring a friend along to do their session at the same time, each of you can take $5 off your session fee (Indoor-Outdoor session and Beach session only) – this one’s good any time.

Here’s another great discount program that I’ve just started, too. On the day of your session, you will be given the option of scheduling a viewing session within two weeks.

Jen loves the time of the day when the light is best, and that’s the hour or two before sunset. Of course, the time of sunset changes every day. If you schedule your portrait for August, we’ll be meeting at about 6:30 p.m. and if you schedule it in October, we’ll meet at about 5:00. Of course, this can be changed, but if you want the best light, the last hour before sunset is when we’ll get it!

What should I wear?

What clothes best express your personality? What do you like to wear? Be careful – outfits with loud prints or wide horizontal stripes aren’t the most flattering, and detract attention away from your face. Clothing that is too trendy might make you regret your choices ten years down the road. But whatever you choose, make sure you’re comfortable! Friends Before Birth | Salisbury Maryland Maternity Portraits

Chrissie and Mandy have been friends since they were little. Now, they’re pregnant, due just a few weeks apart (actually, as of this posting, the word is that Chrissie has given birth to her son Gabe!) and have big plans for their son and daughter – we all decided that these pictures will be the first to play in the slideshow at their wedding! Okay, so maybe they’ll just be friends, but the idea is cute, isn’t it? By the way, if these two look familiar, it’s because both have been brides of mine, and have also both been in several other weddings I’ve shot. A few of my favorites….

A Few Baptisms | Maryland Baby Photographer

In the past few weeks, a few of my friends’ babies have been baptized, and I’ve been able to attend the baptisms and take pictures. The first baptism was Maggie’s, in Annapolis, followed by a reception at her grandparents’ house. You might remember Maggie from a few months ago, when I did her newborn session – she’s growing so big!

The second baptism I went to was Emma’s. Emma was not so thrilled about having water poured on her head, but we took some pretty cute pictures of her afterward!

It’s About Time! | Salisbury Maryland Portrait Photographer

It’s been WAAAAAY too long since my last post – well over two weeks! School has ended, and now I’m working hard on getting my weddings edited before I leave for my big summer vacation to California! In the meantime, check out some of my favorites from the sessions I’ve done in the last two weeks….

On the first Saturday of June, I photographed my little buddy Ryan. Ryan was born last August and was in town for my friend Star’s wedding. I’m so glad I got this cutie in my studio – he has the biggest eyes, and the brightest smile, and so much hair! And he likes to hang his index finger off the only two teeth in his mouth – just an adorable guy!

Next was Blake, who’s now a little over six months old (we took pictures of him when he was born, and then again at three months, and I photographed his big sister Riley every three months for the first whole year of her life too!). Blake proved why I love babies between six and twelve months old – they’re just the happiest, all the time!

Cole is also about six months old, but as soon as I told his parents how happy six-month-old babies are, I realized that I’d jinxed it. Cole decided that the morning we took his pictures was not going to be his happy morning, but we still managed to get a few dozen happy pictures!

Ava is another subject of my grow-up plan. She came to see me when she was brand new, and then again at three months. It’s hard to believe that she’s nine months old already, and as cute as can be! I just love beautiful, bald babies in frilly dresses and hats to match – and those brown eyes are huge!

She gave her daddy a bit of a smack in the eye when we were doing family pictures, and I caught the picture mid-smack!

Elaine & Family | Pemberton Park Portrait Photographer

Elaine called me a few months ago because she’d won a portrait session at a fundraiser auction, and though it took a few tries, we finally managed to find a time that worked for both of us! The weather was perfect today, so we met at Pemberton Park. Elaine came along with her husband Tim and son Michael (who’s grown about 8 inches since I last saw him in 8th grade!), and their dog Bree. Here are a few of my favorites from this afternoon…

6-Week-Old Parker | Salisbury Maryland Baby Photographer

Six week old Parker lives down the street from me. His mom and dad walked him to my studio this afternoon for some pictures – he wasn’t very fond of the whole thing, and made sure I knew it! After a few minutes, though, he calmed down and we got some great pictures of those big blue eyes. Here are a few of my favorites…

Parker’s parents didn’t really anticipate a family portrait, but that’s what they got!

Baby Carly | Salisbury Maryland Newborn Photographer

Carly is eleven days old. A few years ago, her mother took a math workshop that I taught, and I’m glad that she thought of me when it was time for pictures of her beautiful daughter! Actually, she found out about me at RMS Sonography, where my pictures are plastered all over the walls. Here are some of my favorite pictures of Carly from today…

Cooper + Cousins | Salisbury Maryland Children’s Photographer

If you’re a “stalker” of my website, you’ve met Cooper before. He lives across the street from me and first visited me in December when he was less than two months old. Saturday morning, Cooper and his cousins, Gabriel and Griffyn (isn’t that a cool name??) from HAWAII (!!!) and Thomas and Jacob from Salisbury, came over for some fun family pictures. How cute are they?!?

Makena + Family | Salisbury Maryland Family Photographer

Three weeks ago, I photographed the beautiful (and brand new) Makena, and on Friday night, her parents brought back the rest of the family for some portraits. Our plans for an outdoor session were foiled by one of the fiercest thunderstorms I’ve seen around here for a while, but we didn’t let that stop us! The family came over to the studio, and I think we got some great pictures. Here are a few of my favorites of Alexia, Paige, Anna, Makena, and their parents…

Kathrin | Salisbury Maryland Portrait Photographer

Kathrin is a student in my husband’s high school history class, and is in the U.S. as an exchange student from Germany. It rained at Pemberton Park on Sunday afternoon, but we still made it work. Here are some of my favorites…

Beautiful Baby | Eastern Shore of Maryland Baby Photographer

This is Kennedy. Her mom and dad are photographers, and I was honored to be the person they chose to photograph her this past weekend. The best thing about photographing other photographers’ kids is that they’re up for pretty much anything, so of course, we got her naked and I got lots of cute pictures of that chubby little girl! Oh, and the coolest thing was that Kennedy rolled over by herself for the very first time on my studio floor. Justin and Mandy, you definitely have a cutie! A few of my favorites…

Another Weekend with Grayson and Ainslie

My niece & nephew visited again this weekend, to help celebrate my parents’ 40th Anniversary. We had a party for them at Arthur Perdue Stadium, and they threw out the first pitch at a Shorebirds Game. Then, on Sunday, we hit the beach and were all covered with sand! Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our weekend….

“No pictures please!”

Fireworks!!!

And a trip to the beach for Mother’s Day…

Ainslie showing off her purple “eyeshadow,” courtesy of Crayola…

With Auntie Jen…

And with Mama….

And one of my personal favorites from the whole weekend….

A Week’s Worth of Pictures | Delmarva Portrait Photographer

Wow…it’s been a while since I’ve written, and when I look at the portraits I’ve done, I see a lot of work that I haven’t shown off! Here are a few of my favorites from the last week…

This is Evie Rose, 9 months old. Her cousin Emma has been a subject of mine since she was born (literally since the day of her birth!). In my opinion, the girls look more like sisters than cousins!

Next were Reef and Hiatt, my neighbors. We did our annual Mother’s Day portraits last weekend, and these two were a lot of fun! We even did a few shots in the very middle of our street (it’s a cul de sac)…

Did a few awesome maternity portraits this week, as well. BOTH couples were couples whose weddings I photographed in the last two years. The first couple is Ashley and Jamin, who were married in May 2008 and vowed they’d be back soon for pictures of their baby – they were right!

The second maternity portrait session was with Mandy and John, who were married in December 2006. I’ve known Mandy since she was a freshman in high school, and her sister Sara’s wedding was the first one I ever photographed, so we go way back!

Finally, I photographed the beautiful Makena, a two-week-old beauty who was quite patient and alert for her portrait session! Here are some of my favorites….

That’s it for the past week. Thanks for visiting!

Finally…A Sleepy Newborn! | Eastern Shore of Maryland Newborn Photographer

Oh. My. Goodness. A newborn slept. In my studio. For more than 2 minutes. I was shocked!

This is Kade, and he was born on April 20th. He and his brother Colt came to my studio on Friday afternoon for some pictures, and Kade actually slept soundly, and let me position him, for as long as I wanted to! Even when we got him completely naked for pictures with the studio lights, he was still pretty cooperative (as cooperative as you’d expect a naked newborn to be, anyway!). The crocheted hat came from Etsy. Here are some of my favorites…

And proud big brother Colt…
